Greetings Sunnymeadows Families,
I am so honored to continue to serve as the principal of Sunnymeadows. Our goal is to advance the students in every way so they soar to new heights in their academics and social development. At Sunnymeadows we believe in all students. As the proud principal of Sunnymeadows Elementary school, I will continue to partner with you as we support your child’s journey through their academic and socio-emotional development. We want our students to continue to develop pride in the school and excel in their learning.
Our students receive the district adopted standards-based curriculum. We are proud to be a P5 school, which means we have a heavy focus on small group guided reading. The teachers check out books from the bookroom that target our students’ literacy needs. In math our students not only, practice with the common core adopted curriculum, but they also focus on problem-based learning to help them think through math problems at a deeper level of understanding.
Sunnymeadows has several programs and initiatives that support the students on their journey of success. With the implementation of our Positive Behavior and Supports Systems (P.B.I.S), our students know the rules and expectations and how to behave with each other. We are an AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) school, which means that all students will be taught specific strategies that will support and enhance their learning and prepare them to be successful in middle school, high school, and beyond. Being an AVID scholar, your child will continue to gain valuable skills and strategies that will prepare them for college.
As we continue to work collaboratively towards the success of all students, I believe that all of our combined efforts will lift Sunnymeadows to new heights!

Hello, Seahawk Families!
My name is Desiree Ratcliffe, and I am so pleased to serve as the Assistant Principal. I am not only blessed to be working with the dedicated and hardworking staff here, but I am also very honored to work at a such a special place in my educational journey. I attended Sunnymeadows as a student!
I bring 23 years of teaching and administrative experience from my years in MVUSD. I have a strong passion for curriculum and instruction, STEAM education, and the Arts. I love learning and growing as a learner!
On a personal note, I am married and have three wonderful children. I love traveling, musical theater, dancing, hiking, and design projects.
I firmly believe that with care, compassion, and consistent support from the adults in their lives, students CAN be successful in school. I encourage all parents and caregivers to be involved in your child’s education. Join a parent group, if you can! I want students to truly have a positive elementary school experience and to tap into their own passions while developing as learners.
I feel a true sense of responsibility to help ensure our students are well connected, feel an authentic sense of belonging, and thrive in this community each day. I look forward to getting to know the students and staff and to celebrating the successes throughout the school year!
Please contact me anytime to discuss any of your questions or concerns. I am here to support you.
Thoughtfully,
Mrs. Desiree Ratcliffe
