Principal's Message

Dear Sunnymeadows Families,

Welcome to an exciting new academic year at Sunnymeadows Elementary School, home of the Seahawks! Sunnymeadows Elementary School delivers an excellent educational foundation, filled with motivating and engaging academic experiences.  Our teachers and staff members are dedicated to ensuring that your child is successful.

ARRIVE TO SCHOOL ON TIME

Each day, your child is developing habits and routines that will be a foundation for the rest of his/her life.  A very important habit to develop is arriving to school on time. School starts at 8:40 a.m. each day. By making your child's school attendance a priority, you will be taking an important step in supporting your child's school success, and setting a good example.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

I want you to seriously consider becoming involved with your child’s school experience this year. If you would like to volunteer, the Parent Volunteer Applications are available in the school office. You can also join our PTA, School Site Council, ELAC, or participate in our parent workshops.

PBIS

We are now in our third year of PBIS.  PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Systems.  We are creating a school wide culture that embraces positive and appropriate behavior choices at all times. We have three basic rules at our school:

  • Be SAFE
  • Be RESPONSIBLE
  • Be RESPECTFUL

AVID

Sunnymeadows is an AVID Elementary School. AVID Elementary is a foundational component of the AVID College Readiness System and supports AVID’s mission to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. This school year all students will learn how to be successful students through the use of the AVID strategies and organizational tools.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT

Back to School Night will be on Thursday, August 18th at 6:00 p.m.

I want you to regard Sunnymeadows as a place where you are comfortable and feel at home. Please do not hesitate to call if you have questions, concerns, or simply wish to discuss your child’s needs.

Sincerely,

Latrice Thomas

Principal
