Sunnymeadows Elementary School

News & Announcements

A few words from Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Lawler

I have been honored by my staff at Sunnymeadows Elementary as their Teacher of the Year for 2019-20.  The District publicized those of us representing our sites on the District website and Facebook page.  My site did this as well.  I love that I was celebrated in this way! My family and friends from all over were able to share in it with me.

On Sunday evening I had a visit from Dr. Martinrex Kedziora, the District Superintendent for Moreno Valley.  I want to thank him for taking his time to drive to my home.  This gesture of kindness made such a difference to me.

With everything going on in the world today, having Dr. Kedziora on my front step was... humbling.

This school year ended before it really ended. Most of us were not prepared to teach from a distance.  We crave being around those that we have a relationship with.  We have tried to stay connected with students and coworkers in a variety of ways.  He made an important connection for me, he showed up on my doorstep.

While it has been easy to get lost in all that I have missed out on with my students, Dr. Kedziora reminded me that I am respected and valued as an educator and that I make a difference.  These connections matter to all, young and not-so-young alike.

Thank you Dr. Kedziora, for making this not-so-young teacher remember her why.

Lunch Heroes of Sunnymeadows

We would like to make a HUGE shout out to our staff in the Nutrition Department at Sunnymeadows.
They prepare and serve 2 meals for over 600 students daily! They are some of the hardest working members of our school and deserve many more Thanks than is probably given.
When the rest of us were made to quarantine at home, all of these ladies were asked to serve the kids of our community and they do so everyday happily. Please give a huge 'Thank You!' to these ladies when you drive through to let them know they are much appreciated!
